I’m a Research Associate at the University of Bath. I work in sports injury and health research. Outside of work I enjoy training, weightlifting and all the foodie markets in the South West.

I am from Northampton and lived in Oxford for 10 years for my undergraduate degree and PhD.
I moved to Bath almost three years ago now to work at the University here. I live with my housemate Sophie and our fish. I like being active, and used to play rugby but now do more weightlifting than sports. I also enjoy hiking and exploring the countryside here.
My favourite food is Italian, and I love homemade pasta and making ravioli – which is not very difficult, but really messy.

My Typical Day:
Every day is different! Generally I will be in my office on campus, or work from home. I will get into the office for 8 or 8.30, check my inbox and plan my day. I usually start with one or two activities – such as finishing an analysis, or writing a report. I will then go back to my inbox when that is complete, send it onto whoever I am working on it with or reporting it to, and then see what else is coming in which needs to be finished that day.
I often meet with PhD students who have questions or may be finding something difficult, and Masters students. There will usually be a meeting or two every day (often more if we are on campus), and sometimes I will meet a colleague for a coffee and catchup. I will then complete another analysis, or project plan for a future project or funding application.
I have an editorial role with a journal. Academic papers are published in journals, and before they are published they are ‘peer-reviewed’, which means other academics, researchers or colleagues will review them and look for any mistakes, flaws, or things that can be improved before they are printed. I work with a journal, deciding who would be a good expert to check a paper we have been sent, send it to them, and support the journal in printing good, high quality research which is well written.
I try to finish at 5 or 6, and will often alternate between an earlier finish and a late finish, to ensure I can keep up with my gym training but also stay in front with work that needs to be done.
