I have done a lot of work with microorganisms and how they are able to survive in their habitats. This work includes collecting bacteria from a range of unique environments such as salt mines (see image bellow), and discovering new species of bacteria which no one has ever seen before, as well as observing how microbes can evolve in my lab.

My usual workday largely includes performing experiments in my lab and then writing up my results so that I can share my finding with other scientists and the general public. My current experiments include studying the ability of microbes to adapt to antibiotics. After I have done this work I head home and spend the evening playing videogames or reading.
